[ Electrical Machinery and Electron Power Laboratory ]
The laboratory cultivates human resources required from the industry through analyzing the structures and attributes of direct current generators, synchronous machine, motors, induction motor, and modulator and interpreting circuits of various electron powers as well as DC-AC converter circuits. In addition, it also conducts integrated researches in various fields including industrial equipment such as three-phase motors, generators, and transformers, special purpose equipment like high-speed trains, and home electronics.

[ Smart Grid and Control System Laboratory ]
Smart grid means an intelligent power network. It is the system that an integrated control center of a power company and sensors of power plants, transmission towers, telegraph poles, or home electronics bilaterally exchanges real-time information to allow customers to use power during an optimized time which enables the most efficient production and consumption of power; it is also a study that information technology (IT) is grafted on the current power grids.

The smart grid system, which is considered as the area that will grow quickly and largely in the next generation’s eco-friendly technology market, enables to reduce electricity use by 10% and wasting of power. Along with commercialization of renewable energy, it will help to ease global warming issues.

Smart grids are not only expected to allow efficient use of electricity but also to create jobs for building infrastructures and other related industries. In addition, related industries will build new areas that use the advantages of the new technology such as home networking equipment, software programs and online services for communicating with home electronics. By connecting the intelligent power network and control system, the laboratory conducts the study in electric vehicles, activation of new and renewable energy, and other studies needed in the next generation’s eco-friendly technology market.

[ Circuits and System Laboratory ]
Application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) are applied not only to memory semiconductors but also to non-memory semiconductor IC that handles voice, image, and data signals such as communication equipment like IMT-2000, medical image machine, home electronics like camcorder and HDTV, industrial electronics like automobile industry, radar, satellite broadcasting. They are also applied to CCD/IR signal sensing system, and memory and non-memory semiconductor integrated chips. The laboratory interprets and analyzes hybrid mode circuits used in chip interfaces for transforming signals between analog users and digital systems that also have analog and high concentration digital circuit blocks such as high-functional amplifiers and reference circuits. The designed chips at the laboratory are used in various application circuits, actual products and systems after going through the process of layout, production, measurement, and capability test. They are also connected to new business projects with such companies like venture enterprises by using library/IP.

Microprocessor, communication systems, and digital signal processing systems require various functions and fast speed. In order to realize the circuits that meet the requirements, many designs of related circuits including PLL, mixer, multiplier, and modulator are needed. As the demand for mobile devices operated with batteries in such areas like communication and home electronics has rapidly increased, designing ICs with low voltage and power is very important to minimize and lightening those mobile devices. Therefore, the laboratory has actively conducted the design and researches of nonlinear/low power ICs that can be applied to mobile devices since they operate with lower voltage and require low power.

[ Electric Application Laboratory ]
The laboratory has conducted researches in generators and blades for wind power, one of the new and renewable energies, and illumination engineering such as LED and OLED areas.

[ Communication Network System Laboratory ]
As the Internet, mobile communication, and digital broadcasting have rapidly developed, the demands for various information services based on high-speed digital communication and network has also increased. In order to smoothly offer those services, various types of high-speed and high-trusty transmission technologies have also rapidly developed. In this laboratory, the newest digital communication and network system technologies are comprehensively researched along with those engaged with research institutes, industry, and educational institutes. With conducting active researches and development of technologies in various fields of digital communication and networks, the laboratories comprehensively studies “high-speed digital communication and wire-wireless network system technologies.

[ Integrated Circuit Laboratory ]
The Integrated Circuit Laboratory conducts researches related to the design of IC in the field of analog and analog-digital hybrid mode signal processing. Major areas of the researches include analog active filter design, analog-digital converter, digital-analog converter, and regulator as well as power management IC. In addition, it also conducts studies related to semiconductor integrated circuits for system use in order to apply it to the IT conversion system areas. Through active industrial-academic collaboration projects with companies, research institutes, and venture companies related to semiconductor design areas, it designs SICs, makes layouts of them, produces ICs, verifies their capacity, and has accumulated the know-hows in IC design able to be applied to actual products.

[ Communication and Circuit System Laboratory ]
The laboratory allows students to acquire the basic theories in communication areas and study design tools for designing electron circuits in the IT conversion areas to have actual working abilities along with the theory in the IT conversion areas, the next generation’s driving forces. In addition, it aims to produce technicians and engineers required from industry by improving the actual working ability of researches through experiments and practices.

[ Multimedia Communication Laboratory ]
The laboratory conducts multilateral researches in multimedia and telecommunication such as composing techniques of multimedia presentation scenarios, network management techniques, kinetic buffering technology, presentation and scheduling techniques, and maintenance and improvement techniques of Qos, for students can conduct efficient real-time presentations through distributed multimedia networks.
