One of the most popular industrial terms recently has been ‘conversion.’ Barriers among industries naturally have been removed and the conversion of cutting-edge technologies including IT, NT, and BT has been accelerated. In future industries, converged technologies will be expanded and generalized according to a complementary necessity. In addition, the Korean government is planning to invest a total of one trillion won by 2012 in the development of IT technologies converged with such areas like automobile, shipbuilding, national defense, construction, and medical industry in order to develop the IT converged technology as a new driving force for growth that will lead the future industries. This strategic investment policy will continue as advancing in to the world market.
The Department of IT Applied System Engineering was established in 2010 to educate students so that they are equipped with application techniques and actively prepare for the rapidly changing converged industry as well as successfully advance into the IT conversion areas.
The department allows students to acquire the basic knowledge in electronic, electric, and communications and conducts the systemized design, experiment, and practice education focusing on the connectivity between the knowledge and their major study so that they can acquire converged techniques. It especially conducts both theoretical backgrounds and practices of field educations including electricity IT, IT converged technology in construction, embedded technology, transportation IT, RFID system, IT for robotic and medical industry to produce the best technicians and engineers who have experiences in cutting edge IT conversion technologies, actively respond to the technology, and pursue a creative and promising life with visions for future.
The department founded with the vision has an entrance quota of 41 students along with eight faculty members who have abundant work experiences in industries. From the moment students enter the school, the faculty takes care of them until they graduate and get a job through advising in all areas; one faculty member is in charge of five to 20 students as a mentor in a sufficient condition for advising and counseling them. In order to develop the department and help students to realize their dream growing as a professional technician in society, all the faculty members will make great efforts and endeavors.
